What purposes are there for producing imagery from above? Before the “what”, let’s explore the “why”.
Clearly a certain vantage point can only be obtained from above, preferably without the expense of a helicopter…. and crew….and insurance….and the time to produce the content. No doubt about the fact that aerial imagery is cost-effective through the use of UAV’s (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), commonly called “drones”.
And then there is the risk associated with trying to climb into position when using a ladder or cherry-picker/lift system during inspections. Again, combining the equipment with labor costs, a drone by the hour is far less expensive.
Convenience is also a good reason to use this technology. The streamlined setup up procedures, portable nature, and fast time to production (copy and paste files!) are all reasons to utilize this form of aerial imagery. In many cases, the footage/shots created can be made available within hours after they are taken.
Versatility is leveraged when considering the ability to fly over a variety of terrain. Video can be shot while over water, for example, providing a perspective not even contemplated in earlier productions because it just wasn’t practical.
It is also a “green” technology, essentially using zero carbon exhaust emissions.
Simply put, it allows your business to be more competitive, removes risk, and is quick to market.
